Media Questions

1)
The design I have used is pretty simplistic in the sense the text is not very complicated. The anchorage text has been written to be very basic and unsophisticated as the target audience is college students and if the text was set up to be complex then the magazine will not be appealing for all students. This is why everything I have used I have given much attention towards, to ensure the readers, (young people) read it and understand what the purpose of the magazine is. I think that my magazine relates to ‘Rolling Stones’ magazine in the sense that it is very simplistic but effective.

2)
The conventions that I used to develop the front cover were Xara and Photoshop. These programs helped me to cultivate the cover and make sure that it was finished to a considerable standard. The language used was down to initiative and what I thought the type of language should be to appeal greatly to the teenage faction. The use of imagery has been very important to me. The pictures used such as the two teachers and the school student were used not only to relate to the text but to outline the fact that the school should be a cheerful place.

1)
My school magazine was created to be different; I didn’t want to create a sense of boredom amongst the students. The main idea was to try and make the magazine modern and fun for the students to enjoy. I used Xara to adapt my pictures to the way I wanted them.

2)
There were a few creative problems that cropped up during the development process. For example, one of the problems that occurred was what color the title should be. I thought about what colors young people may like and asked some younger friends what their favorite colors were and what they would like to see on a magazine cover. Ultimately, I decided upon red and yellow, I thought that the colors would not affect different sex’s as both colors can be for both sexes.

3)
Two of the pictures on the front cover had already been taken by myself, I had taken one of them while out with some friends and the other was in the summer with two teachers that wanted to have their picture taken. The picture of the bus and sixth form students, however, were taken by me. The bus photograph was the easiest as the bus was already outside of the school and so I just took the picture of it because I knew that I could use it in the magazine. Also the picture with the sixth form students was taken while we were fooling around. The background picture was just a simple idea to highlight the fact that the magazine is about the school, I had used Xara on it to get rid of the grey sky and replace it with a lush blue one.

4)
To be honest I had decided not to use any sort of set location. I didn’t do this because I wanted the magazine to be as real as I could get it and if a set location was used then it would be obvious and not look genuine.
5)
The draft was quite important as in the early stages of development I had many mistakes and faults in my work. After I had spent time on the work at hand I noticed a lot of inaccuracies and managed to sort them out.

6)
I managed my time by only focusing on one subject at a time. For example, first I thought about the text and what I would be able to say on the cover. After the text had been worked out I thought about what sort of pictures should be displayed and whether they were relevant or not. Next came the color and what the students of the school would like to see.

1)
I had used Xara and Photoshop on my cover. The technology allowed me to be able do near enough what I wanted to the pictures, text or design. For example, I used the 3D tool that aloud my text to go 3D, an example of this is my title.

2)
I think that everything I wanted to do I could do it through Xara or Photoshop.

1)
The ideas came from myself, as I am a student myself I just thought about mostly want I would want to see on the magazine. I asked other people as well for their opinions on the cover, such as the colors and the title of it.

2)
In my opinion the audience was surprised at what I had produced at first. I think that this is good though because I could then change it to make it better and go over expectations.
