1) Why has this image been chosen? Is the use of black and white significant?
This image has been chosen to represent how the magazine has got up close and personal with her. The black and white symbolizes how she is almost ‘alone’ in her distress.
2) How has the image been cropped?
The image has been cropped to suite the front cover. It has also been made to just see the face of her, as this would allow the emotions of her to be seen.
3) What type of relationship does Britney want with the audience? Is this supported by the anchorage text? I think it would be write in saying that she wants a close relationship with the audience. I think that the text does support the relationship as she is trying to tell you what is wrong.

1) How has the image been framed/cropped? What type of shot has been used and why? The image has been cropped to fit on the page and show the audience. A mid shot has been used to show most of body.
2) Describe Britney’s costume and pose. What type of relationship does she want with the reader? Her costume is quite sexual and she I wanting to have a close relationship with her readers.

3) What setting is used and what are the connotations of this? She is in a room and looks as if she has just woken up and she wants sex.
4) How is lighting used? The lighting is very bright and focuses on her.
5) What colors are used and why? White is probably the main color used in this picture, this represents purity.

You can clearly see the evolution of Britney Spears on the cover of Rolling Stones magazine.
How have these images been constructed to present ideas about the star? They have been constructed to make you sympathize with her, they have shown her development through life.
On this cover she is only 17!Answer the following questions and make sure that you use appropriate terminology:
1) How has the image been framed/cropped? What type of shot has been used and why? What type of magazine is this typical of (refer back to the readership statistics). The image has been cropped to show her whole body and the mise-en-scene of the shot. A mid shot has been used to allow the audience to understand what is going on in the scene.
2) Describe Britney’s costume. What does it suggest about her image? Who is this appealing to? The costume suggests that the image is appealing to men.
3) Have any props been used? What messages are they conveying to the audience? Some props such as the toy bear and the telephone are used to suggest that she is a typical teenage girl, on the phone and cuddling up to a toy.
4) What setting is used and what are the connotations of this? She is lying on a silk bed, this could mean that she is seeking sex.
5) What colors are used and why? Pink is one of the main colors used in the picture, this is also meant to represent the age and sensitivity of her.
